Imagist Poetry– “A 20th century movement of poetry advocating free verse and the expression of ideas and emotions through clear, precise images.” (Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary, 1979)

Twirling
on a polished floor
a laughing dancer
Wool mittens:
frozen in time
covered in snow
Deep
past caging ribs
a pounding organ
In search of warmth
the flutter of wings
The cold mirror
silver in the light
a face laughs
Rita’s Musings: Above are some imagist poems that I wrote at a poetry workshop with John B. Lee in high school. These poems were all written between November 30 – December 1, 1999.
